Content of the lesson

This lesson defines the terms mobility and migration and distinguishes between classical migration research and theories explaining the perpetuation of migration. It also introduces the term "social capital" and specifies its relevance related to migration. Moreover the lesson brings in the characteristics of transnational migration and how migration can be a livelihood strategy. The case study of Nepalese labour migrants in Delhi takes up the main patterns of migration again.
