Content of the lesson

The content of this lesson was provided by the International Labour Organisation (ILO). It outlines the disadvantaged position of women in the world of work and shows the links between employment patterns, gender and poverty. It illustrates the key issues in the debate on the feminization of poverty and the over-representation of women among the poor in all regions. Further the lesson identifies possible approaches to poverty. The lesson outlines the role of employment promotion as a poverty eradication policy and strategy and describes the ILO approach in this field.
